About
Jonty Parker-Jervis

From the age of three, Jonty Parker-Jervis has had an instrument or a microphone in his hands. He grew up as a Suzuki (School of Music) brat, in Edmonton, and studied the classical violin into his late teens, while consuming a steady diet of The Beatles on the side.

During High School and his stint in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the U of A, the passion and energy of the second British Invasion, that featured bands as diverse as The Clash and The Cure, inspired him to form a rock band in which he sang lead and played electric violin. With that band he recorded an album, made a video, performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra backing up the band, won an Alberta Industry Recording Association award, and toured Canada.

In the early 90's, Jonty relocated to Vancouver Island and (re)discovered acoustic music. He co-founded the Celtic / folk rock Walter Bodega Band, playing the violin / fiddle and sharing lead vocal duties while performing over 800 shows and releasing three CDs with the band in its 10 years of existence.

After 10 years of playing with the Walter Bodega Band, which has 4 songwriters, Jonty has stepped out to put together a new group for the sole purpose of playing his original material.

Now, he has put together THE FULL JONTY, an exciting, acoustic 4-piece group with the sole purpose of playing his original vocal and instrumental material - a combination of passion, pop, playfulness and spirit, influenced by his varied background and experiences.

Lending him their creativity, sparkle, and positive vibe in THE FULL JONTY are David Klassen on bass, Chris Logan on guitar and violin, and Wayne Wilson on percussion on the recording, and guest percussionists live.

With over 1500 live shows under his belt, Jonty is an experienced and accomplished performer who prides himself on delivering the goods to his audience and having as much fun as possible while doing so.~~~~~
